Cookson Communications Expands Footprint to Maine Through the PR Consultants Group

Manchester, N.H. (January 9, 2025) – Cookson Communications, a visibility-focused communications agency with expertise in public relations, social media, marketing, design and branding, is expanding its reach into Maine through its exclusive engagement with the PR Consultants Group (PRCG). As the exclusive representative for PRCG in New Hampshire, Cookson Communications started servicing the State of Maine in January 2025.

Founded in 2000, PRCG is an exclusive nationwide network of about 50 highly regarded, award-winning senior-level public relations and communications consultants working in all major U.S. markets. PRCG’s unique collaborative philosophy allows members to work together and separately on projects, offering “boots on the ground” experience in their local markets to clients’ regional and national public relations initiatives.

Those boots on the ground will primarily be worn by Angie Helton, a highly experienced agency owner based out of South Portland, Maine. In her role with Cookson Communications, she serves as lead communications counsel in Maine and will help direct communications-related projects for Maine-based clients.

“We are excited to serve Maine for PRCG and have deep connections in our neighboring state. With many similarities in our economies and top industries, and strong familiarity with the media landscape, having Angie play a lead role and leverage our resources will enable us to effectively serve more Maine-based organizations,” said Matt Cookson, CEO of Cookson Communications. He has spent summers working and living in Maine for 30 years and several Cookson team members live in border towns and spend significant time in Maine.

Angie Helton founded Northeast Media Associates, a multimedia public relations firm, in 2006. Before founding NEMA, she was COO for 480 Digital of Portland, during which time she earned a national Telly Award and two New England regional Emmy nominations. For more than a decade, she produced television news investigative reports in several major Northeast markets, for which she won two regional Emmys among six nominations. Helton, a South Portland resident, is the president of the board of directors for the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce and also sits on the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Maine’s board of directors.

PRCG provides Cookson Communications with the ability to quickly tap a wide range of professionals across the U.S. who can collaborate by both geography and area of expertise to support clients at a national level. PRCG members execute projects for a bevy of national and international brands focusing on strategic planning and creative execution in media relations, social media, promotions, crisis communications, event development and management and much more. Members of the non-profit organization are approved by their peers to represent a specific geography. Maine was represented by Felica Knight of the Knight Canney Group through PRCG since 2011. She retired at the end of 2024.
