Nonprofits Get It Done for New Hampshire

Nonprofits get it done for New Hampshire. This is a rock-solid true statement and aptly the name for the current campaign calling attention to the vast range of ways nonprofits positively impact the lives of Granite Staters. We’re psyched and proud to partner with the NH Center for Nonprofits on this awareness campaign. It’s a localized version of a national campaign from the National Association of Nonprofits, as the concern about reductions in support and the personaland societal harm this is causing is a national issue.

From life-threatening issues such as homelessness, substance misuse, abuse, hunger, and food insecurity, to environmental issues and cuts to education and the arts that challenge our quality of life and curtail opportunity, our nonprofits play a central role in Granite State by supporting these services and issues and so many more. And we have a higher percentage of employees in nonprofits here, partly because New Hampshire has a long-standing tradition of having a more minimalist role for our state and local government. Your time, donations, and goodwill help fill the gap.

NH Center for Nonprofits CEO Kathleen Reardon captured the spirit of this campaign during the kickoff ceremony last week. “Stories are powerful. This campaign unites nonprofits of all sizes together to spotlight their impact and ensure lawmakers hear from the people who rely on these vital services,” she said. “100% of Granite Staters are impacted by nonprofits. From early childhood support to housing and food stability, nonprofits get it done.”

During this campaign, you’ll be hearing these stories from across our thousands of nonprofit organizations about how staff and volunteers have played a role in improving people’s lives in all corners of the state. We’re also encouraging others to create and tell their stories to help amplify the core message and encourage broad support for the sector. A landing page has been set up for individuals to share an impact story and get shareable content – see the link below.

To put the role of nonprofits in New Hampshire into perspective, about 14% of our workforce is employed by nonprofit organizations, and the sector generates $17.2 million annually for our economy. Volunteer hours surpass 2 million a year. Those are very big numbers for a small state.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with so many NH nonprofits and capturing and telling these stories over the years. It’s an honor to work with them and on this campaign. Please get involved, share a story, and help more people understand the essential role our nonprofits play here.
