Website Redesign Case Study: Bringing the biomedical technology startup X-Therma's vision to the next level

X-Therma has the potential to change and save lives in profound ways through a revolutionary new system of organ preservation. We honed this paradigm-shifting vision and built it into a new website with a refreshed brand and materials to help capture and present this new technology in an attention-getting fashion.

Website Redesign

To better showcase X-Therma’s vision for advancing regenerative medicine and organ transplantation, we designed a clean and modern website to better showcase the medical innovator’s patented transport devices and novel biopreservation solution. The interactive website design provided an engaging, new way to present the organization’s revolutionary research and technologies to members of the medical field, investors, and the general public.

The interactive website design provided an engaging, new way to present the organization’s revolutionary research and technologies to members of the medical field, investors, and the general public.

Brand visuals

After refining the existing logo and brand colors, we expanded the brand identify further by creating distinct droplets and fish shapes that evoked the natural antifreeze proteins of arctic fish that served as inspiration for X-Therma’s nanoscience. These graphical elements provided a unique, on-brand way to convey imagery that showed both the microscopic source of X-Therma’s breakthrough technology as well as human-centered photography showing the emotional benefits afforded to patients and healthcare providers alike.

Iconography

In addition to the graphical design elements for the brand, we also created a number of icons and illustrations that conveyed X-Therma’s organizational values. The icons represent a combination of X-Therma’s high-tech approach to solving an emotional challenge in human healthcare.

Sub-brand development

With multiple lines of innovative products, clearly delineating between each was an important communications challenge. To address this, we created individual sub-brands that aligned with the overall look and feel of the X-Therma brand by using variations in the color palette and manipulating the “fish-drop” icon to present a related, yet distinct logo that helped to differentiate between product lines.

Collateral development

With next-gen products designed for use in different segments of the healthcare industry, it was imperative to produce informative materials that addressed the key points of interest for the various audiences. To achieve this, we created a series of brochures for X-Therma’s main product lines that included further versions that were targeted to specific audience segments. Each instance of a high-quality printed brochure was complemented by a digital version that was made available for download via QR codes printed on applicable trade show and conference materials.

Trade show and event creative

We supported X-Therma’s overarching promotional strategy through the production of numerous banners, backdrops, and giveaway items to enhance their presence at trade shows, industry conferences, and other in-person events. From branded “robot” USB chargers to retractable vinyl banners, cloth backdrops and projected presentations, our efforts ensured the X-Therma events team were able to grab and hold the attention of attendees at large-scale events in Boston, Paris, San Francisco and beyond.
