Introducing Inside722!
Lead Communications Counsel for Maine

Angie Helton

We all know that one person: the effortless social butterfly with a knack for storytelling and staying in-the-know. Now, give them a V12 engine and a 10,000-Kilowatt smile and you’ll start to understand Angie. Her passion for being at the center of the action is best exemplified by a communications career that has run the gamut from college sports to catching members of the FBI’s Most Wanted list and just about everything in between. Where others may be intimidated by the challenge of helping their client pull off a big media event, Angie only sees opportunity and maybe even the possibility of running into someone famous (like the time she bumped into Frank Sinatra, literally).

Background

Angie’s initial foray into the world of communications began as a producer calling the shots from behind the camera for local newscasts. After her start in Bangor, this passion for TV news production brought her to the larger market of Portland and southern Maine, where she spent a few years behind the scenes managing all aspects of the newsroom on the weekends and bringing stories to fruition. After making her mark in Maine, Angie relocated to New Jersey to help launch a new 24-hour cable news station (News 12 New Jersey) from the ground-up and mobilize a fleet of reporters, satellite trucks, and helicopters across the greater New York metro. From there, she shifted her focus to in-depth investigative producing, first in New York City and then later in Boston, where she would earn two regional Emmys for her work producing television news investigative reports.

After more than a decade in the news, Angie took her talents back to her beloved Pine Tree State and combined her deep knowledge of the news and video production process with her love of Maine to delve into public relations. This period of transformation also yielded several noteworthy achievements, such as producing the first-ever travel DVD for the Portland area and attaining national news placement for several local clients. This early success served as the inspiration for Angie to form Northeast Media Associates, where she and her team have been empowering clients in Maine for nearly 20 years with authentic and rich content before joining forces with Cookson Communications as Lead Communications Counsel for Maine while continuing to operate Northeast Media Associates.

Passions

Despite growing up in an Air Force family and moving around throughout her youth, Angie has always considered Maine to be her home and loves promoting “boomerangs” like herself who return to live and work in Maine. She enjoys golf and tennis in her free time, but her real passion is something a little louder; just ask her about the time she got to test drive eight different supercars through the Alps or when she raced a Ferrari around Enzo’s famous track in Italy.
